New in Photoshop CC 2018

Photoshop CC 2018 has officially arrived, which can only mean that it’s that time of year when Adobe gives us Creative Cloud subscribers some new goodies to play around with. Now I did not think last year’s update was super impressive, but there are definitely some interesting new features this year.

If you are a heavy brush user you will definitely appreciate the brush management system. Managing brushes before was really difficult as there weren’t many organizational features. Now with Photoshop CC 2018 you can create brush groups and easily sort your brushes.

Pasting layers between different documents has been improved, adding the ability to paste a layer in place, so that it is properly aligned if you’re creating a series of images.

Select & Mask has received an improved algorithm, this should make selecting subjects and extracting them from the background much easier. Even when working with complex details such as messy hair on a model.

There is a new variable font system. This allows you to dig into typefaces and really refine their look with much more precision that you had before.

Those are a few of the features that stuck out to me. You can check out the first video from Howard Pinsky’s YouTube Channel highlighting these features and a few more or you can do a deep dive with the second video which is over 45 minutes long and covers all the changes in Photoshop CC 2018.
