I’m currently in Udine, Italy where tomorrow Italy meets Spain in an international friendly. With Sweden set to face Italy in the group phase of the Euro this summer this was the perfect opportunity to get some fresh pictures of the Italian players with their latest kit.
Today I made my way to the newly renovated Stadio Friuli to cover the press conferences from both teams and the Spanish team’s final training session. The stadium is pretty nice. The renovation work is mostly complete, except for portions of the external facade which are still being worked on. It has a modest capacity of 25,000 but that is understandable as Udine is a small town.
I’m really looking forward to covering this match. I last covered the Italian national team when they meet in Norway in a qualification match for this summer’s Euro tournament. I’m hoping to be able to gauge how they might perform this summer. Unfortunately they will be without midfielder Marco Verratti, who I hope will be a key player this summer. I will hopefully get to see Stephan El Shaarawy, who has been in fantastic form since joining Roma in the winter, play a portion of the match.
