It’s been a tough couple of weeks for Djurgården. They went into the derby coming off of a 2-1 loss to IFK Göteborg. In the derby they were completely outclassed by city rivals AIK and lost 2-0. In the following game they meet Kalmar at home, a match that should have provided an easy opportunity to bounce back. Fans still reeling over the derby loss waited outside during the start. Their protest did not help and that game was also lost convincingly. With a 3-0 victory for the visiting team, Kalmar FF. With the weight of three consecutive losses Djurgården needed to come out and put in a convincing performance against Helsingborg.
Convincing is exactly what they did. They dominated the game from start and it took just twelve minutes for Sam Johnson to open the scoring. Daniel Bernstein made with 2-0 after 52 minutes scoring the most beautiful goal of the evening. Finally substitute Jesper Karlstrom closed it out scoring the 3-0 goal with less than ten minutes left to play.
While a perfect game for Djurgården it did not come without it’s complications. Haris Radetinac, who was just returning from a lengthy injury, went out injured and it looks like he could be facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
