Since I started photographing sports for Pic-Agency I’ve gotten to attend a lot of matches and see a lot of sports that I’ve never really followed. Yesterday was another such occasion as I got to shoot a handball match between two Stockholm team’s Hammarby IF and Caperiotumba.

Arriving at the venue I was pleasantly surprised at how good the lighting was. I’ve shoot a lot of basketball this winter, and have to say that this venue was miles above the basketball venue I’ve been shooting at. I was able to keep a fairly low ISO (2000) for indoor sports and maintain a fast shutter (1/800). Which resulted in some really crisp shoots with low amounts of noise.

As a foreigner living in Stockholm I’m often shocked and surprised at the popularity of sports like handball or indoor bandy. There was a pretty big crowd for the game, and it just seems weird to me that handball draws larger crowds than basketball. Now this isn’t meant as a knock to the sports, but just as a personal observation. Shooting the game was a lot of fun, like basketball it’s pretty high scoring so there are lot of opportunities for great action shoots and great celebration shoots.

I’ll leave you with some shoots from the game, you can see more on Pic-Agency’s website.
