“Superettan här kommer Bajen … Superettan här kommer Bajen … Superettan här kommer Bajen.”
Over and over again. The chant sang by AIK supporters throughout the second half translates to “Superettan here comes Bajen.” Bajen being a nickname for Hammarby and Superettan being Sweden’s second division.
AIK dominated their second derby of the season as they completely trashed Hammarby. Up by two goals after just 17 minutes. Haukur Hauksson opened the scoring and then Eero Markkanen made it 2-0. But they did not stop there and the game would be closed and after just 38th minutes when Ebenezer Ofori made it 3-0. Over and done with after just 45 minutes, the second half was just a formality. There is not much else to say about this match.
AIK remains in 5th place with 27 points, just 5 points away from league leaders Malmö FF. Meanwhile Hammarby is way down in 14th place with a very real possibility of going back into the second division if they do not make serious changes.
I really enjoyed covering this match. The derby matches in Stockholm are always my favorites and this one just had all the right ingredients:
– Full on summer weather. Yesterday was an incredibly hot afternoon and everyone was feeling the heat.
– A convincing victory. The best derbies are those that are won convincingly. One half of town leaves victorious with bragging rights and the other leaves absolutely gutted.
Thanks for stopping by!
