Sweden easily crushes Bulgaria - Michael Campanella Photography

Last night was the second game I covered in the post Zlatan era of the Swedish national team, previously it was the draw against the Netherlands. In this outing Sweden easily crushed Bulgaria in front of the home crowd at Friends Arena. Goals from Ola Toivonen and Oscar Hiljemark gave the home side a comfortable lead by the end of the first half. Then a third goal from Victor Lindelöf wrapped things up in the second half.

Overall I was pretty impressed. I think already Janne Andersson is giving the team an identity and a game plan. It’s something I felt was completely missing under Erik Hamren, who to me seemed to be content in hoping Ibrahimovic could resolve everything.

In terms of atmosphere it was a bit disappointing. This side has lost it’s biggest star and you can feel that looking into the stands. Hopefully SvFF can realize that and adjust for it appropriately.
