When AIK qualified to the group stage of Europa League I started hoping that they would be thrown into a group that included an Italian team. I followed the draw and was rather pleased they got lined up with S.S.C. Napoli.
For the start second half we got treated to a light and pyrotechnic show from the fans. The smoke seemed stronger than usual and you really have no choice but to abandon ship and move out of the way.
Yesterday was the final derby between Djurgården IF and AIK at Råsunda Stadium. Next year both teams will move to new arenas and Råsunda Stadium, which hosted the 1958 World Cup, will eventually be demolished and replaced with apartment buildings.
It hasn’t been all AIK that I’ve photographer in the past month. Yesterday I was back at Råsunda Stadium and photographing Djurgården as they meet Helsingborg.
It’s been a while since I’ve made a post here, but that doesn’t mean that I’ve been sitting on butt and enjoying the summer weather. During this last month I’ve gotten to cover a fair amount of AIK games for one of my colleagues who has been on summer vacation.
Some pictures of AIK’s Ibrahim Bangura in action against Elfsborg.
Last night was the first match of the 2011 Allsvenskan season for the two principal Stockholm teams Djurgården and AIK.
Entry in my photo journal with images from the Stockholm derby between Djurgården and AIK.
